Here are a few snippets from my novels, just to give you a flavour of the sort of things I write.
Blackmails, Emails and Monkey Mayhem
It was the end of May and it had been raining for days. Milly and I were well fed up with being stuck inside. Shows how bored we were, cos we had just finished watching the entire series of Morse on the telly, when I came up with a brilliant idea.
‘We could do that’ I commented to Milly, my twin sister.
‘Do what?’ she replied, stifling a yawn.
‘Be detectives.’
‘Oh, yeh, sure we could.’
‘No seriously; we could solve mysteries or crimes around here.’
‘Are there any?’ she asked ‘And even if there are, how do you think we could solve them?’
(Questions, questions, why is it that people must insist on putting obstacles in the way of a perfectly good idea?)
‘Well, we could start our own private detective agency’ I said. ‘We could advertise in our school magazine, and even put up a poster in the Post Office.’
The Choosing
‘Our world is a very precious place. Only a small number of us are aware how delicately our continued survival hangs in the balance. This is a duty we have neither chosen, nor relish, but we will not shrink from. I am Jonas, High Guardian of ‘The Truth’. We owe our continued survival as a species, to the bravery and skill of a small number of specially selected people. You are the latest in a long line of such individuals. I am confident that in choosing the four of you, we shall with your help; continue to live long and healthy lives in a world without fear.’
Theft, Skullduggery and a Budgie named Bonkers.
Everyone was talking about the diamond robbery that had happened last week. Crime had come to town and it was very exciting.
